Ferragosto in Sicilia- Siracusa

Some of the best Greek ruins are in Syracuse. Back in the day when Athens was in power, there were over 200,000 people living here. This Greek amphitheater is from 5th Century BC. It also is still used today for the performance of ancient Greek plays.




Above the theater were a bunch of man made caves. This one appears to be the remains of an old bath from the ancient aqueduct.


















This cave is down in the quarry just behind the theater. It is known as the Ear of Dionysis
